Happy New Year!

So good to be cool again after yesterday's heat. It augurs well for 2010, I hope.

I've have made my resolutions.

Workwise, 2010 looks like being an interesting year. I have the first semester pretty full of TAFE teaching - both online and one subject at Box Hill face-to-face. I'm teaching two subjects I haven't taught before, and one for the second time only. I'm also fitting in a three week stint in Fremantle, one of my favourite places to work and I hope to make it to New Zealand for ten days. I'm not actually going to try to do much writing in Semester One - it's too full of teaching. It feels really odd to make that conscious decision. I've probably made it unconsciously in the past and then been cranky when I tried to make myself a writing schedule and could never stick to it.

Best book of 2009? Hilary Mantel's Wolf Hall, closely followed by Jane Gardam's The Man in the Wooden Hat (though I didn't like it as much as Old Filth) I probably have others as well.

It's so quiet here - no kids around, The Accountant lying down with a book on the Normandy Invasion - I feel as though I should be using this solitude for some supreme task. Which I am, of course, wishing you, gentle reader, a wonderful 2010 with all good things and happenings.

Wish I'd read your blog before making my New Year resolutions. They are realistic. Mine weren't! Who wants to start reading non-fiction with their morning tea - before they've even got their email up!
