The intrepid traveller

Alasdair flew off to Germany today with five other exchange students. It's the first time he will have been away from home for so long (nine weeks!) but I feel as though over the past three or so years he's been growing in independence, making his own way into the world so it wasn't such a shock to be seeing my firstborn off on his first international trip.

Of course it helped that I knew there was a yarn shop at the end of this flight and that he was armed with my wish list for said yarn shop and some euros I had put aside just to restock my diminishing (ahem*) stash of yarn...German sock yarn - ooh la la! (oops, sorry - wrong language. I just don't know any German noises of unrestrained enthusiasm. Must be because I did German for one year only in Brisbane. Also I didn't watch Hogan's Heroes because we didn't have a t.v.).

Al - travel happily. Don't skate on thin ice. Keep your hair out of your eyes. Buy your mother lots of wonderful yarn. And some addi lace turbos. Repeat after me...buy your mother lots of wonderful yarn. And some addi lace turbos. Repeat after me...
